"CONFIDENTIAL", "DRAFT", "APPROVED", "FOR REVIEW ONLY" or your company name — text watermarks are the most common choice. Choose font, size, color and opacity. Image watermarks use a transparent PNG logo for professional branding. Diagonal placement is recommended for confidential documents as it covers more of the page area and is harder to crop away.
Watermark opacity and positioning
Opacity ranges from 5% (barely visible) to 100% (fully opaque). For legal proofs and drafts, use 30-50% opacity with diagonal rotation. For subtle branding, use 10-20% opacity. Position options: center, top-left, top-right, bottom-left, bottom-right, or custom X/Y offset.

Can the watermark be removed from a PDF?
A watermark at high opacity over contrasting content is very difficult to remove cleanly. Low-opacity watermarks can sometimes be removed with advanced PDF editing tools.
