Free Color Palette Extractor from Images — HEX RGB HSL Codes
Instantly extract the 5-10 dominant colors from any image. Get HEX, RGB and HSL codes for each color in one click. Perfect for design, branding and web development.
How color extraction works
Our algorithm uses k-means clustering — the same technique used by professional design tools like Adobe Color. It groups millions of pixels into clusters based on color similarity, then identifies the centroid color of each cluster as a dominant color. The result is a clean palette of the most representative colors in the image, free from minor variations and noise. Highly saturated, prominent colors are weighted more heavily to reflect visual importance.
Design and branding use cases
Brand palette creation: photograph your product, packaging or physical brand materials and extract the exact colors to use in digital design. UI/web development: extract a color palette from a reference image and paste the HEX codes directly into your CSS. Competitor analysis: extract color schemes from competitor websites or products. Art and photography: analyze the color mood of a painting or photograph for creative inspiration. Accessibility testing: check color contrast ratios between extracted palette colors for WCAG compliance.
FAQ
What color code formats are provided?
HEX (#rrggbb), RGB (r, g, b) and HSL (h°, s%, l%). Click on any color swatch to copy its code in the format of your choice.
How many colors does the palette contain?
Typically 5 to 10 dominant colors, depending on the complexity of the image. Simple images with few distinct areas produce fewer colors; complex photographs produce more.
Can I use this to match a brand color from a logo?
Yes. Upload the logo image and extract the exact HEX codes of its colors. This is useful when you do not have access to the brand style guide.
Does it work with photographs?
Yes. Photographs produce rich, natural palettes. For cleaner palettes from product photos, remove the background first using our Remove Background tool, then extract the palette.
Can I export the palette as a CSS file or design file?
Currently you can copy individual HEX/RGB/HSL codes. CSS export and Adobe Swatch/Figma palette export are planned for future updates.
What image formats are supported?
JPG, PNG and WebP. The tool analyzes the image directly — it does not require the image to be on a white background.
